Advisory Board
Lawrence P. Howorth
Lawrence Howorth has over 29 years of multinational management
experience in business development, operations and finance
in the software development, Internet-based commerce, banking,
consulting, manufacturing, business services and technical-training
sectors. Lawrence is the Principal of Global Management Solutions,
a consulting and contract-executive management firm. He provides
Business Development and Executive Management services to
Hostedware Corporation. His expertise includes building new
organizations, re-positioning and re-structuring existing
organizations and he sits on several Advisory Boards.
Prior to Global Management Solutions, he was the co-founder,
Chief Operating and Financial Officer of Event411, Inc., a
software development company in the multi-million dollar travel
and events industry, and the founding President and Chief
Financial Officer for SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing, a pioneer
in online marketing and advertising technology and sales.
Prior to SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing, Lawrence served as
President of the Pacific Rim Operations for Learning Tree
International (NASDAQ: LTRE), a global leader in developing
and delivering technical training in the United States, Europe,
Asia and Canada. He oversaw the development of the Company's
Asia-Pacific sales and operations, and he also served as a
Director and Chief Financial Officer for the Company.
Prior to Learning Tree, Lawrence held senior management positions
for Smith International (NYSE: Si'). There he managed operations
in Canada and oversaw the implementation of multinational
finance and management systems, manufacturing and service
infrastructure and participated in the negotiation and management
of joint ventures and new businesses in over 22 countries.
In the early part of his career he spent seven years with
Nu-Central Homes and KPMG. A Canadian Chartered Accountant,
(B. Comm, University of Saskatchewan), Lawrence has lectured
on multinational business development and other technical
and business operations subjects at the University of Southern
California, California State University, Long Beach and various
conferences.
Daniel T.Y. Ling
Mr. Ling is currently Senior Vice President and Board Director
for Straight Ventures Olympic; a global investment banking
and management consulting firm. Daniel was SVP of Sutro &
Co overseeing and advising high net worth individual and corporate
clients on money management, asset allocation, insurance and
estate planning activities. He was Senior Vice President with
Paine Webber (94-98) , and before that, Vice President with
Prudential securities (89-93) and Drexel Burnham Lambert (83-88).
Mr. Ling co-founded Synacord Capital in 1998, focusing in
funding California startups technology companies. Since inception,
Synacord had facilitated financing for 14 startups from 100k
to 2-3M each in Software, Hardware, Semiconductor Chip Design,
Internet B to B Portal, DSL Telecom Equipment, Biotech, and
Pharmaceutical Drug Delivery to Discovery. Mr. Ling received
a Doctorate Degree with top honors from USC Pharmacy School
in 1981 as a member of Rho Chi Honor Society.
Winston Lee
One of the most highly regarded Asian American investment
bankers, Mr. Lee is Chairman and CEO of Straight Ventures
Olympic, a global investment banking and management consulting
firm. Winston was Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, stationed
in Hong Kong during the 1980's, specializing in the telecommunications
and multimedia industries.
Entrepreneurial and creative, he later founded Gateway Communications
(HK) Ltd. and investment banking firm Strait Ventures Inc.
Mr. Lee is responsible for winning many important telecommunications
licenses in Asia, including the two most valuable mobile licenses
in Taiwan - FarEastTone Telecommunications Corp. (JV of AT&T
Wireless and Far Eastern Group). Mr. Lee received his architecture
degrees from Rice University and MBA from Leonard N. Stern
School of Business, New York University.
Rob Donahue
Rob Donahue participated in the founding
and startup of Hostedware, and was instrumental in attracting
some of Hostedware's key customers. In addition to providing
ongoing consultation services to Hostedware, Rob is currently
Rental Manager and Information Technology Specialist for Donahue
Transportation Services Corporation (his family's business).
Rob's product management and customer
service experience in fast-paced, growth-oriented companies,
along with the familiarity with the market and their needs,
have provided important insight to our management and development
teams. Prior to Hostedware, Rob served in various product
management, software marketing and business development capacities
with Sage Publications, a $100M publisher and distributor
of academic books, journals and research and analysis software.
Rob has a degree in research methods from Claremont McKenna
College.
Karen Fraser
Karen Fraser is an experienced educator in the fields of
mathematics and science. She is currently a Leadership Participant
with the Monterey Bay Area Mathematics Project. Prior to the
Mathematics Project, she was the Coordinator for the Community
Teaching Fellowships in Mathematics and Science Program at
the University of California at Santa Cruz and the Learning
Skills Specialist in Mathematics and Science at the Sonoma
State University. A graduate of the University of California
at San Diego (mathematics and literature), Ms. Fraser has
presented papers in the areas of Cryptography, Mathematics,
Teaching Mathematics to LD Students and Geometry, among others.
She has published original works and historical research,
and in particular has co-authored "Learning to Learn:
Specialists Collaborate to Teach Success," which appeared
in Opportunity Outlook, National Council of Educational Opportunity
Associations (1996). She has been active in the Western Association
of Educational Opportunity Personnel (WESTOP), National Association
of Developmental Education (NADE) and the Mathematics Association
of America (MAA).
Enid Erika Berglund
Erika Berglund, SPHR, CPT has over 20 years of professional
experience leading global organizations in education, business
development, performance improvement, process reengineering
and training. She is currently a Vice President with Clark
Consulting's (NYSE:CLK) Management Science Associates practice.
She works with healthcare clients in the areas of human resource
strategy, organizational effectiveness, performance improvement
and leadership development to support the successful execution
of business strategies.
Prior to Clark Consulting, Ms. Berglund was a Manager in
the Business Consulting practice of Arthur Andersen, LLP where
she led organizational development and training strategies
for multinational clients undergoing large-scale business
change. Prior to Andersen, she founded Performance by Design,
a performance consulting and training firm where she developed
training strategies and programs for a broad range of clients
in diverse industries.
Ms. Berglund has held management roles in training and business
development with CalFirst Bancorp (NASDAQ:CFNB), Learning
Tree International (NASDAQ:LTRE), Ibax Healthcare, Sandoz
Pharmaceuticals and Baxter Healthcare. She is a graduate of
the University of Virginia (B.S. Honors, Education) and the
University of Southern California (M.S. Instructional Technology).
Erika is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
She also received her Certified Performance Technologist (CPT)
credential based upon her work with clients to systematically
and systemically identify and remove barriers to individual
and organizational performance. She is a member of the International
Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), the American Society
for Training and Development (ASTD), and the Society for Human
Resource Management (SHRM). She has published articles and
spoken on the subjects of training, change management, communications
and performance management.
Ana P. Nunes
Ana Nunes has managed numerous research and investigative
projects including plan development, identification of the
target constituency of respondents, organization of the staff
support teams and the provision of data analysis and interpretation.
She is currently a Program/Research Coordinator with the Discrimination
Research Center, part of the Impact Fund of Berkeley, CA.
Prior to the Discrimination Research Center, she served as
a specialist and consultant with Project Sentinel, Palo Alto,
CA and Pacific Community Services, Inc., Pittsburgh, CA.
Ms. Nunes is a graduate of the University of California at
Santa Cruz and has several publications to her credit including
"Treatment of Caucasian and African-American Applicants
by San Francisco Bay Area Employment Agencies; Results of
a Study Utilizing "Testers" (1999) and "A Study
of the Treatment of Female and Male Applicants by San Francisco
Bay Area Auto Service Shops" (2000).
